-1973: The Indians set an Opening Day attendance record, with 74,420 people watching the Indians beat the Tigers, 2-1.
-1986: Red Sox outfielder Dwight Evans became the first player to hit the first pitch of the first game of the season for a home run.
-2004: Braves' Adam LaRoche got the first two hits of his career in one inning. LaRoche singled and doubled in the Braves 11-run 4th inning.
