This Date in Baseball History--
-1948: 84 year old A's manager Connie Mack challenges 78 year old Senators owner Clark Griffith to a foot race from home plate to 1st base. The race turns out a tie.
-1994: Eddie Murray played his 2,403rd game at first base, setting the record for games played at that position.
-2001: For the first time since June 7, 1995, the Indians failed to have a sellout crowd at Jacobs Field. The streak of 455 consecutive sellouts is a major league record.
