-1922: Despite a fourth inning lead of 25-6, the Cubs needed to hang on to defeat Philadelphia 26-23, as the Phillies left the bases loaded in the ninth. 49 total runs were scored in the game, a major league record.

-1930: Tigers pitcher Tommy Bridges walks 12 Browns in one game, but Detroit still defeats St. Louis 7-5.

-1998: Roger Clemens strikes out 18 Royals in a 3-0 Toronto victory over Kansas City, becoming the first pitcher ever to have pitched three games of 18 or more strikeouts.
